The War to End All Wars [Hetalia]

Description

(Inspired by the poem "Dulce Et Decorum Est" and especially by "Break of Day in the Trenches").
I'm sorry to Belgium, Ottoman Empire, Canada, and all other nations involved in WWI that don't appear here! I didn't have the time to draw all of them.

~~~~I drew it for the contest at #HetaliaFanGroup, where the theme was "uniforms" ~~~~~
I wanted to showcase some of the uniforms from The Great War, 1914-1918, because there's a serious lack of WWI Hetalia art. I did a lot more research than I expected to get these uniforms fairly accurate, though I didn't catch every single detail, and there are so many variations of different uniforms that I picked a few to model off of xD For some FUN info, keep reading!
Austro-Hungarian Empire: Background is the flag of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, at least during the time of The Great War. Austria's uniform is a higher officer's uniform, Hungary's is an infantry uniform.
Russia: Background is the flag that, from what I gathered, was most used from 1914-1917. he's wearing a cavalry uniform. Oh yeah. Carrying a Russian/Soviet M91 rifle.
France: Background is the French flag, it's the same! He's wearing the "horizon blue" uniform that was worn after ditching the red pants, apparently. I'm not sure what position he is, but all that matters is that he look beautiful in his uniform, non?
Germany: Prussia: "Fine, little bro, it's your first big war, YOU can be the general." And so Germany is wearing an early general's uniform. Prussia's got the standard coat, and the pickelhaube hat of awesomeness, complete with the eagle seal. He's carrying the German Mauser.
Britain: Flag is the same. Had to give him the helmet. He's just wearing the basic uniform the British always wear in WWI movies when they're in the trenches, the uniform of somewhere with lower ranking, or someone during the battle rather than a ceremonial outfit. Carrying the Lee-Enfield.
America: Flag has 48 stars on it, because there were not yet 50 American states! I also forgot to colour part of his gun the strap) so I'll have to go fix that, but he's carrying the US Springfield 1903. He's wearing the "doughboy" uniform that the American Expeditionary Force wore fresh off the boats in 1917.
Italy: Background is the flag of the kingdom of Italy, though if this is not accurate just say and I'll change it, because I didn't have time to double check the sources. Romano came out like shit, but I drew this one in like 5 hours because I had to post this picture before the contest deadline. His uniform is based off field artillery, because I like that one, and Italy's is the more standard infantary uniform. I don't remember the name of his rifle =/
And that, my friends, is The Great War. Sort of. This thing totally didn't turn out the way I'd pictured =/
If you want to use this image for any sort of Hetalia video or thing, go for it, just credit me and/or let me know if you do because, you know, that'd be cool =D
God...It irks me sometimes how often World War 1 is overlooked by wars that came either before or after it. That war is just as historically significant as all the others. It was the war that saw the beginning of the era of modern warfare. It is nice to see that there are people who are trying to bring it back into the light of day and teach others that if we are not careful, it can happen again. On a different note, love the detail you've put into this! You're right there really needs to be more WW1 hetalia art.
